Some members find that they have excess or loose skin following a very large weight loss. Everyone is different, so the amount varies from person to person depending on the age and elasticity of a person's skin.
No specific exercise is better than another for preventing loose skin. However all types of exercise, both aerobic and toning, are good both for general health and for firming up your body while you lose weight.
We always recommend that members who have a significant amount of weight to lose aim to lose at a steady, healthy rate of around 1-2lbs a week and participate in regular physical activity while slimming. This will help to tone the underlying muscles and prevent the appearance of excess skin.
While some explore cosmetic surgery as a way to remove excess skin, this may come with serious health risks and can leave visible scars. It’s also unlikely to be covered by your health insurance plan.
Please remember—your overall health and fitness have undoubtedly benefitted from your amazing weight loss!
